I planned to travel the full length of the country in two weeks. I called up Misa Travel to enquire about cheap economy class tickets and I was quoted $450 for an open ticket on Vietnam Airline. The ticket would allow me to fly into Hanoi and fly out from Ho Chi Minh, or vice versa. The lady over the phone also told me that ticket price is likely to increase over the next few week. Feeling that it was too expensive, I did not accept the offer.
I decided to turn to budget airlines and discovered that Tiger Airways is having their promotional one-way fare to Vietnam. I booked and made the payment for an onward flight to Hanoi on 17 Dec 2005 and return by Ho Chi Minh on 1 Jan 2006. The total fare came up to S$229.46.
I am on my way to Vietnam.
