I am not one who stick strictly to an itinerary during a trip. I often alter my plan on the road to take pleasure in the the unexpected. Yet, at the same time I do have a basis idea where I want to go or do. I believe most traveller share my view in this respect on travel plan.
As I have listed the places I would like to visit, it is not too difficult to come up with the itinerary:
Day 1 Arrive in Hanoi
Day 2 Hanoi
Day 3 Halong Bay (Overnight in junk or Cat Ba Island)
Day 4 Halong Bay (Arrive in Hanoi in the evening, overnight to Sapa)
Day 5 Sapa
Day 6 Sapa (Overnight to Hanoi)
Day 7 Hanoi (Overnight to Hue)
Day 8 Hue
Day 9 Hue to Hoi An
Day 10 Hoi An
Day 11 Hoi An to Danang (Overnight to HCMC)
Day 12 HCMC
Day 13 Mekong Delta
Day 14 Mekong Delta
Day 15 HCMC
Day 16 Depart for Singapore
The itinerary is very intensive and the time might be too tight to visit all the places. I also did not factor in rest days and likely delay caused by the transport system.
I decided that I will give myself some slack by cancelling or shortening my time in Mekong Delta and HCMC if I have to. Just as long as I do not miss the flight home.
